What is Evil?

Evil is a broad sense, there is no definite meaning to it, everyone has their own interpretation of the word “evil” usually depending on their moral compass. Some people believe that human beings are born with evil, while others regard that we develop evil within us through our experience in life. Everyone is correct in their own way, as “evil” is a objective term.

I personally believe that all human are born neutral. Humans are moulded into the person they are today, humans have the capacity of being either good or evil depending on their choices through life. Evil is developed through the interaction with the people around us. If we choose to interact with “evil” people we have a higher chance of being negatively influenced by their behaviour. On the other hand, if we are connected to what society knows as “good” people we can be positively influenced.

Good and evil are generally viewed as black and white. However some decisions cannot be easily classified to whether it is black or white, these decisions form a grey area between good and evil. A perfect example would be war. In a war, there is no such things as a good or evil decision. Every decision would result in a loss of life. Some war are fought for the benefit of a nation and the people within the country. If taking one’s life is regarded to be evil, then is war classified as evil?

Evil is everywhere to be found, one cannot simply destroy evil. Evil is like a belief, it has existed with humanity since the very beginning. You can kill an evil person, but wouldn’t that be regarded as an evil act itself. There is no way of combatting evil, the only way evil can be cured is by not following the path of another evil person.

Are you here to learn or to think?

Learning is the acquiring of skills and knowledge through study or experience. Thinking is the process of consideration. Thinking and learning are equally important, you must first learn in order to think, however you must first think then be able to learn. We can learn and think throughout our lives, since the day you were born to the day you die. Knowledge is endless, no matter how much you think or how much you learn there are still many questions in life that no one would be able to answer.

Learning is not limited to our school life only, in fact the most important lessons in life can not be learnt through textbooks or tests. They are learnt through valuable experience. You need to grasp the opportunity to learn when they are presented to you, once these opportunities are gone there is no way of reclaiming them. Therefore we must cherish each and every learning experience life provides us with.

Thinking is an essential part of life, also essential to the process of learning, we are constantly thinking both consciously and unconsciously. We may not understand these unconscious decisions at first which is similar to when we are first taught something. We may not understand what we were taught at first, however if we continuously think about it we would eventually understand. Therefore meaning we have learnt it.

Life goes by like the wind, once it’s gone we will never see it again. Our whole life we have been trying to learn and acquire more knowledge, but have we ever stopped and thought about our past, present and future actions? Knowing exactly what the path in life we want to take will reduce the amount of incorrect paths that we will walk down. Before every action we take we should consider the future consequences and choose according to our instincts.
